How to Heal your Blisters Faster…but will you do it?

I’m pretty sure every single rider in the history of dirt bike riding has had to deal with at one point or another, and for those of you who are lucky enough to never have to worry about them, well, I hate you…and I’m only halfway kidding! For the rest of us, I have a little tip to help you heal your blisters faster, and I bet you’re dying to find out how, right?

Well here’s how: You have to urinate on them!piss small How to Heal your Blisters Faster...but will you do it? Yep you heard me right, pee on your (open) blisters and they will heal faster.

The acid in your pee helps dry the blister quicker, and the sooner your blister dries up the sooner it will heal and close the wound. You’re probably wondering if I actually tested this on myself, and the answer is yes. Did it work you ask? Sure seemed like it, my blisters dried up quicker then normal and only hurt for a day. It hurts when you pee on an open blister, let me tell you…

So, before you go on ahead and start peeing all over your hands, you have to make sure all your blisters are already popped open, like on the image below, or it won’t do a thing except stink up your hand:

Remove the skin still protecting your blister, and drain all the fluids out before doing the deed.

The following image shows a pair of hands with a bunch of blisters that still need to be popped and drained. They all have to look like the one blister on the far right before you urinate on them, or it won’t work:

Most of the blisters on these hands aren't ready yet.

Once you drained all your blisters and revealed the skin underneath, you’re ready to urinate on them. Let the urine sit on your hands for about 1 hour, and then wash your hands. Do that a few times during the day and you’ll have brand new hands in no time.

This worked pretty good for me when I was racing the GP’s in Europe back in 1996, and also in a few occasions during the Nationals series here in the States. I’d like to hear from you guys if you ever try it on yourself (in the comments below), and if it worked on you?

    Steve,
I suspect most folks don't know that this remedy has been used for centuries by eskimos to heal such wounds. I know for a fact it works, but it is a hard sell for sure. Peeing on your hands is no more unsantitary than picking up a tray at McD's.

    I don't think I'll ever eat McDonald's again…
I didn't know that fact, Eskimos are smart :) Thanks for sharing this information, makes me feel better about peeing on my own hands!

Dude, don't pee on your hands, you morons.  Cut a hole in the blister, then put liquid skin in there.  The hole has to be big enough to fit the brush from the liquid skin.  Make sure there is no air or pus in there.

Don’t pop blisters if they haven’t popped already. The serum in them helps protect the new growing skin underneath.

That’s true if you don’t have to race or train on a daily basis. When you get on the bike almost everyday, if you don’t pop them, they will pop automatically after a few laps on the track, and it will make it worse. By popping them, you get them to dry faster and make the pain go away quicker.

    Hi,
I admire the fact that there is someone else out there who believes in this theory. I originally heard of this by an outdoor education instructor who has climbed part of Everest and done month long treks in unfavorable conditions. However, I have found that it works quite well if you pee on them when they are still closed. They may not heal AS fast but it sure heals quicker than if you just leave them. I can’t explain it but from my experience it works
