The Design Process
Posted by ronronmx in Miscellaneous on September 16th, 2009
If you’ve been here before, when I first started this blog a few month back, you probably noticed all the changes I have been making to the site design lately, right? I haven’t been writing much in the past few weeks because I spent most of my free time learning the ins and outs of Wordpress (the blogging platform used on this site), and changing the template design to better fit my needs.
I like where the look of my blog is going and I hope you do too. My goal is to make this site easy to read, easy to navigate and also pleasing on the eyes. If you have any suggestions for me, than please contact me to let me know what they are, and I’ll consider adding them to the site.
Now that the new look of my blog is almost done, I can start writing again
. I would like to know what are you most interested in reading about! Let me know by leaving comments on this page or contacting me via e-mail. I have lots of interesting things to write about, so I’ll start there and wait for some of your feedback.
Here’s a few things I’ll be writing about here on my blog:
- Privateers
- Racing Stories
- Off Road Photography
- Riding Tips
- Biography
Feel free to add to that list please! And if you want to see my photography work, head on over to www.sr21photography.com for all my latest photos.
Peace,

Some new dirt for your iPhone…
Posted by ronronmx in Miscellaneous on September 5th, 2009
So Carlie, Luka and I are on our way to California for the weekend and the beginning of next week (finally a week off from work!). There are a few storms scheduled for today so the trip should be interesting, we both hope to run into big storms with lots of lightning! We love that stuff…
The reason why I have a week off is because we just finished our second iPhone game, and 2XL is gonna submit it to apple this week. I’m really excited to see how well this new game will do compared to our first iPhone game “2xl supercross”, which did very well. I can’t yet say the name of the game or give away too many details so I’ll stick to the following for now:
- it’s an off road game…
– it’s got more tracks then 2xl supercross…
– it’s not just supercross tracks anymore…
– it’s got tricks, lots of tricks…
– it’s got big freeride/freestyle levels…
– it looks better then 2xl supercross…
That’s it for now! I’ll release screenshots and videos when I get the green light
Oh and btw, there’s an update coming soon for 2xl supercross with some bug fixes and a few surprises…
Stay tuned!
Trip to France – Photos from Crest
Posted by ronronmx in Photography on August 29th, 2009
It had been 4 long years since the last time I was in France! Carlie, Luka and I were way past due for a trip there and we took it 2 weeks ago. We stayed at my parent’s house, in a small village lost in the mountains of Tournon (which is 1 hour south of Lyon) and it was so awesome to be there, breath some fresh air and let Luka run around outside like a mad man all day…my parents were so excited to see him!
We did lots of things while we were in France, for example on Wednesday we went to a town named “Crest” not too far from where my parents live. One of my favorite track I used to practice on a lot is in Crest, it’s got that gnarly downhill that’s almost vertical! We didn’t go to Crest to check out a motocross track though, but to go swim at the river and then go see an old tower which used to be a prison a long time ago. The river was fun and I got to swim with my dad, my little niece Kimberley and Luka decided to join us later on. After that we walked all the way up to the tower, through some really old buildings and tight little streets, and up 2000 steps (I’m exaggerating but it sure felt like it!)
After about 30 minutes of stair climbing in 100 degrees weather, we finally reach the tower…and we get ready to climb even more stairs! Carlie was getting ready to give up lol…she wasn’t feeling good though so she had a good excuse. So we climb all the way up to the very top of the tower, through some amazingly tight stairways and steep stairs – the photos below don’t do it justice! – and I forgot to mention that Luka walked all the way up to the tower and also inside the tower on his own! Kids have way too much energy…
Enjoy the photos, and come back soon if you wanna see more pics of all the other cool stuff we did during our 2 weeks vacations in France, as I will post more photos and stories throughout next week. ...Click here to view the photos from the trip...
New MX vs ATV Reflex Videos and Deformable Terrain!
Posted by ronronmx in Miscellaneous on August 21st, 2009
I have been dreaming about making a Motocross game with deformable terrain for many years, I even pitched the idea to the 2xl games team I work with when we started working on our PS3 and XBOX360 racer “BAJA: Edge of Control”. We weren’t able to implement a good enough deformable terrain solution for reason I won’t go into (gets me all worked up and mad…), and I was pretty bummed about it. Well it looks like the folks over at Rainbo Studios have been hard at work on their next Motocross racer, “MX vs ATV Reflex”, because they managed to put deformable terrain everywhere in the game and up the graphics quality as well. The dirt surface on the outdoor and indoor tracks looks great and makes you feel like you’re actually driving through dirt now, instead of the dull feeling of driving on a glass surface! Check out the videos below, and leave your comments at the bottom of the page. I wanna know what you think of this next installment in the MX vs ATV series and if you think the deformable terrain will be enough to make you buy the game.
Game looks great and the deformable terrain very promising, but I wonder, when will they get the sounds right??? The bikes still sound like lawnmowers close to their death…I’m also not sure the physics will be fun to play with, especially with the added difficulty of controlling both the bike and the rider! I could be wrong, and hope I am, as this new version looks very promising.
Lucas Oil Off-Road race at Lake Elsinore – Wear pants or go home!
Posted by ronronmx in Photography, Racing News on July 28th, 2009
So I got a funny story about last weekend’s trophy trucks race, which took place at the Lake Elsinore racetrack in California…I got kicked off the track for wearing shorts instead of pants!!! You see, they have certain “rules” in the Lucas Oil Off Road series, to be more specific, they pretty much tell you what you have to wear if you wanna be on the track, whether you are a photographer or a crew member! The rule is you can’t wear shorts, you HAVE to wear pants…110 degrees outside and they MAKE you wear pants. More story and photos from the event...
HDR Photo Test
Posted by ronronmx in Photography on July 17th, 2009
HDR photography is still pretty new and not many people know about it, and even less do it right! I’d like to think that I am part of the small group of photographers that can produce nice HDR images without over-doing it, but sometimes I love to over-do it! Sometimes making an image look completely unreal by pushing the HDR settings all the way up is actually rewarding, depending on what you’re trying to achieve of course.
While I was shooting the Colorado national race in Lakewood a few weeks back, I couldn’t help but to snap a few HDR images of the amazing sky and hills around the track…the only problem was that I didn’t have a tripod with me, so the images aren’t perfectly aligned, but still worth processing. A few of them turned out pretty good, and I couldn’t decide between the different versions I made, so I decided to show them all to you guys and girls and you can tell me which ones you like the best in the comments section at the end of the post! view all the photos...
Battle against addiction
Posted by ronronmx in Miscellaneous on July 16th, 2009
I received an e-mail recently from a 23 years old male that almost brought tears to my eyes, mostly because it brought back very bad memories for me, and secondly because I know how hard the road ahead for this young man is and I can’t help but wonder if he’s gonna make it or not…I know this sounds horrible, but I’m speaking from experience, because I almost didn’t make it myself! I am so thankful today that I had great friends and family around me who loved me enough to stick around and help me the best they could during my journey through hell, and I pray that this person is as lucky as I was. Under Construction
Posted by ronronmx in Miscellaneous on July 12th, 2009
I told you not to click that link, didn’t I? But you had to do it anyways…and if you didn’t come from ronronmx.com, then how did you get here anyways? Well then, welcome to my “unfinished” blog, and since you’re here you might as well browse around and give me some feedback while you’re at it! There isn’t much on here for now (and we both know why, right?) but in time there will be tons of cool content to read, I just have to write it!
This blog will replace the old Ronronmx.com site. I decided it was too much work to keep up with all the news and race results, drama and such especially since you can already visit great sites like racerxonline.com, vitalmx.com, motonews.com, transworldmx.com, and many others like these with all the latest racing news, product reviews, rider interviews and race results you can possibly want! So I said no more, let’s do something new and refreshing…let’s speak my mind! It might not always be pretty, but it’ll be interesting….
Ronron
